From the Nick, follow the obvious path of the Pennine Way, and descend to cross Maize Beck beyond Watch Hill and turn upstream into the scar. Roseroot, normally a high mountain flower, is in abundance on the walls of the scar, plus Scabious and various Hawkweeds in late summer. Cross the bridge and a boggy path returns you to the Nick.
