Walk 21 in the Walks from the Stations book: Since 2016 the official path to Ewbank Scar is closed, from where it splits from the path to Lockthwaite, just past a ruin after a stile. Do not be put off, however, as there is a clear path to the right of where a sign points down to the left, where soon after that branch has been wiped out by a landfall. The County Council are duty bound to erect the closure signs, but make no effort to actually close the way through, so feel no guilt and press on. The new branch joins the old a little further on. At present (July 2018) the land is so dry the descent from Nine Standards is a pleasure, unlike the usual boggy situation, so be quick and do it now!
